Please note that the integration date for migrating all COMEX products to the CME Clearing platform has been postponed from Monday, August 17, to Monday, August 31, 2009. The integration date for migrating all NYMEX products to the CME Clearing platform remains as scheduled on Monday, September 14. The reason for extending the COMEX date by two weeks is to accommodate clearing firms’ requests for additional time to test their back-office bookkeeping systems and clearing interfaces.
Also, please be reminded that every firm is responsible for testing and certifying its readiness prior to each integration launch date. CME Clearing’s “New Release” test environment allows firms to perform all critical trade entry, trade messaging, and post-trade processing functions. This two week extension offers firms three full weeks of additional testing opportunities prior to the COMEX integration.
CME Clearing is available to assist firms by providing scripts, injecting electronic trades, keypunching floor trades, etc. It is incumbent on firms, however, to ensure that all essential internal bookkeeping functions – including trade loads, point balancing, position reporting, large trader reporting, and customer margining -- are fully functional prior to the integration.
CME Clearing will continue to host mock trading sessions on the next three Saturdays (8/8, 8/15, and 8/22) as well as on the Saturday prior to the NYMEX integration (9/5). We will also continue to sponsor scripted testing from Tuesday through Friday as planned and will continue to assist firms with unique requests to the extent possible.
CME Clearing relationship managers will be contacting each firm over the next few days to assess their level of readiness for the COMEX integration on August 31. We thank you in advance for your support and cooperation in making this historic integration a success.
