What are the benefits of Trading Floor Technology?

Member firms and members, both locals and floor brokers, can use the open auction enhancing tools to generate significant benefits.

Member firms can connect their order management systems to the CME Group via the OrderDirect™ API, which enables them to:

  • direct customer order routing to designated CME Group brokers
  • provide customers with Internet order access
  • maintain control of the order book
  • receive immediate trade confirmations
  • customize report formats
  • add credit control software to update customer accounts in real time
  • send trade data to the back office for straight through processing

Local floor traders now have the best of both trading platforms. Using the new handheld wireless electronic trading device, local traders can:

  • record trades with other locals on a touch screen pad
  • automatically send trade data to clearing firm
  • confirm trades with floor brokers with a single keystroke  

Floor brokers can use the Electronic Clerk (EC) to achieve significant gains in trade confirmation speed and accuracy. This device enables brokers to:

  • send immediate trade confirmations
  • minimize clerical errors
  • send trade endorsements directly to the clearing firm for straight-through processing

  • submit real-time fills to local traders using handheld devices
