NYMEX to Change Margins for Heating Oil, Related Futures Contracts

NEW YORK, N.Y., February 20,2008 -- The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. announced today that it will change margins for the heating oil, New York Harbor heating oil calendar swap, heating oil financial, and NYMEX miNYTM heating oil futures contracts, beginning at the close of business tomorrow. 

Margins for the first month of the heating oil, New York Harbor heating oil calendar swap, and heating oil financial futures contracts will increase to $5,750 from $5,000 for clearing members, to $6,325 from $5,500 for members, and to $7,763 from $6,750 for customers. The margins for the second to fifth months will increase to $5,250 from $4,500 for clearing members, to $5,775 from $4,950 for members, and to $7,088 from $6,075 for customers. Margins for sixth through 11th months will increase to $4,500 from $3,750 for clearing members, to $4,950 from $4,125 for members, and to $6,075 from $5,063 for customers. The margins for all other months will increase to $4,250 from $3,500 for clearing members, to $4,675 from $3,850 for members, and to $5,738 from $4,725 for customers.

The margins for the first month of the NYMEX miNY heating oil futures contract will increase to $2,875 from $2,500 for clearing members, to $3,163 from $2,750 for members, and to $3,881 from $3,375 for customers. Margins for the second to fifth months will increase to $2,625 from $2,250 for clearing members, to $2,888 from $2,475 for members, and to $3,544 from $3,038 for customers. The margins for sixth through 11th months will increase to $2,250 from $1,875 for clearing members, to $2,475 from $2,063 for members, and to $3,038 from $2,531 for customers.   Margins for all other months will increase to $2,125 from $1,750 for clearing members, to $2,338 from $1,925 for members, and to $2,869 from $2,363 for customers.
