Exchange Reaches Record Volume on Crude Oil Calendar Spread Options Contract

New York, N.Y., January 26, 2006 — The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., announced today that a record 25,400 crude oil calendar spread options contracts were traded yesterday, surpassing the previous record of 20,350 contracts traded on November 1, 2005.

Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "This record represents a solid start to the new year. It is gratifying to see our customers continuing to seek our services and products to fulfill their risk management needs."
