Exchange Sets Annual e-miNYsm Futures Volume Record

NEW YORK, N.Y., May 24, 2005 — The e-miNYsm futures contract surpassed its previous annual volume record on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., on May 19 when the total reached 1 million contracts for the year, surpassing the annual record of 856,544 contracts set in 2004.

Exchange President James E. Newsome said, "The e-miNYsm crude oil and natural gas futures contracts have proven to be crucial investment tools as market participants have found the contracts to be effective trading instruments providing additional liquidity, efficiency, and the ability to manage price risk exposure."
