As independent exchanges for many years, CME, CBOT and NYMEX/COMEX each developed its own set of rules. Although we have now merged to form CME Group, we remain separate self-regulatory organizations under a single Market Regulation Department.

We have harmonized the CME and CBOT rulebooks, making the rules parallel in structure, numbering and language where possible. This process is currently taking place for NYMEX rules. You can learn the details about the harmonization process in Rulebook Harmonization.
