Market Regulation Oversight Committee (MROC)

In April 2004, CME, one of the predecessors of CME Group, became the first futures exchange to appoint a board-level committee devoted to self-regulatory oversight. Called the Market Regulation Oversight Committee, it continues operating and:

  • Is comprised solely of non-industry directors
  • Oversees and ensures the independence of CME Group market regulation and financial surveillance functions

In addition, our markets are subject to oversight by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), an independent federal regulatory agency that regulates futures trading.
