Market Data Licensing Process
Application Requirements for CME Group Market Data

CME Group requires the licensing and reporting of all use of its market data. Any entity connecting to CME Group for market data and/or distributing market data must complete the application process outlined below.

  1. Complete and sign the Market Data License Agreement (PDF).
  2. Submit a written description of your system, describing your:
    • Distribution technologies
    • Entitlement controls
    • Services
  3. Submit a Scope of Use, a written description of:
    • How you will use and distribute the data
    • The products on which you will offer the data, with descriptions of each

  4. Submit all documents to Information Products Management via one of the following ways:
    • Email: marketdata@cmegroup.com
    • Fax: 312.930.3433
    • Mail: Information Products Management , CME Group, 20 S. Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60606.

Based on the information you provide above, you may also need to send:

  1. An Annual Data Distribution Fee (Fee Schedule), pro-rated for the first year of service (please see the fee schedule for current rates)
  2. An annual report or financial statement
  3. Promotional material describing your products and services
  4. Completed CME Group Tax Certificate of Resale or Exemption and any other applicable state exemption forms (please see forms and faq section for additional details or contact your account manager)

Any distribution agreement received without the required document(s) requested above and/or data distribution fee will be discarded after 30 business days.

Accessing Data from Other Exchanges

If you wish to access and/or distribute other data available on MDP that is not licensed under the CME Market Data License Agreement (MDLA), in addition to signing the MDLA you must also contact the appropriate exchange for their distribution polices, fees and required documentation.

All exchanges licensed under the MDLA and those Partner Exchanges licensing market data directly are subject to additions or changes, as put forth in Schedule 1 of the MDLA.
