New Market Data Format | CME Market Data Policy

CME acknowledges that there are multiple uses for its market data. Based on the type of data and usage, end-users may or may not be charged subscriber fees for market data. CME first distinguishes between CME Globex ® and open outcry market data. Subscriber quote fees are applicable for open outcry data under all circumstances. For CME Globex data, the key distinction is whether or not the market data is incorporated into an order entry platform used by someone authorized and enabled to trade on the CME Globex platform.

Individuals and firms who receive CME Globex market data via the CME Globex Trader ® software are exempt from subscriber quote fees.

Providers of other electronic trading software systems that display CME Globex data are exempt from the obligation to collect and remit subscriber quote fees under the following conditions:

• The application is enabled to submit orders to the CME Globex platform.
• The user of the application is an individual authorized to trade on the CME Globex platform or engaged in risk management and/or supervisory activities for person(s) trading on the CME Globex platform.

To qualify for the above exemption, individuals and firms are required to complete the CME Globex Connection Agreement, including the CME Globex Market Data Request Form (Schedule 7).

Clearing firms are required to report to CME the number and location of customers receiving CME Globex market data on a quarterly basis.

Individuals or firms who intend to access CME market data for any purpose other than order entry must apply to become a CME market data distributor and abide by the distributor requirements.
