CME Group's European Clearing House

Launched in May 2011, CME Clearing Europe (CMECE) is a London-based clearing house which operates in an English law and European regulatory environment. We provide multi-asset class clearing services covering OTC transactions and exchange-traded derivatives on CME Europe, our new London-based derivatives exchange.

As a central counterparty clearing house, our business centres on safeguarding the interests of our customers and the integrity of the markets we serve. To achieve this we act as the central counterparty to every trade we clear and stand behind the performance of every transaction.

Our service combines operational flexibility with a transparent risk management and an account structure that offers a range of protection choices for clients should their clearing broker fail. Credit risk is virtually eliminated and central clearing offers efficiencies in the use of capital.

A European Clearing Model, Governed by English Law

CME Clearing Europe is a limited company registered in the UK and is a Recognised CCP regulated by the Bank of England and is authorised under EMIR as a CCP.

CME Clearing Europe is also a Designated Security Settlement System under the Financial Markets and Insolvency (Settlement Finality) Regulations 1999, which implements the Settlement Finality Directive (Directive 98/26/EC) of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 May 1998.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of CME Group, we bring CME's world-class clearing to the European regulatory environment. Although CME Clearing Europe has its own governance structure and dedicated financial resources, we benefit fully from the systems, clearing and risk management expertise, and financial strength of CME Group.
