CME Group Trading ChallengeCME Group's Trading Challenge is a complimentary four-week electronic trading competition where teams of undergraduate and graduate students can trade a variety of CME Group products from multiple asset classes in a simulated trading environment on a real-time professional trading platform provided by CQG.
Top ranking students will be eligible for cash prizes and exclusive CME Group experiences.
This competition is an annual event and the number of schools that participate has grown each year - with 207 schools from 32 countries and over 385 teams competing in 2014. The Trading Challenge is a unique chance for students to learn hands on techniques for trading futures. Teams must consist of 3-5 members and can register with a student leader or faculty advisor.

Teams will use the CQG Integrated Client trading platform to execute trades on CME Globex. CQG will provide access to the technical analysis and trading software as well as training before the competition begins.

March 6, 2014 – The Championship Round of the 2014 CME Group Trading Challenge concludes TOMORROW, Friday, March 7 at Market Close. ALL POSITIONS MUST BE CLOSED BEFORE THE END OF EACH PRODUCT’S TRADING DAY.
If you have any open positions after the close today, those positions will be settled at the closing price. You will be penalized $1,000 per contract plus commission expenses on those open contracts.
March 4, 2014 – This afternoon, the American Petroleum Institute reported on crude oil supplies for the week ended February 28. This report, coupled with another report from the Energy Information Administration tomorrow morning may have an impact on Trading Challenge products, particularly Crude Oil.

February 25, 2014 – This morning, the Conference Board released its monthly report on the consumer confidence index. This report can influence a variety of Challenge products, but is particularly impactful on equity index and currency products. February 20, 2014 – The Preliminary Round ends today at market close. All positions must be closed before the end of each product's trading day. If you have any open positions after the close today, those positions will be settled at the closing price. You will be penalized $1,000 per contract plus commission expenses on those open contracts.
The top 10% of teams in the Preliminary Round will advance to the Final Round which begins on Sunday, February 23 at market open. Please note that some contract expirations will change for the Final Round and this change will be communicated via email before the round begins.
February 18, 2014 – The weather can affect a variety of products in the CME Group Trading Challenge. Recent cold weather throughout the U.S. has had a measurable effect on energy products including Natural Gas and Crude Oil. Learn more about it here.
February 13, 2014 – Trading hours will be adjusted on Monday, February 17 in observance of the Presidents Day holiday in the United States. While CME Globex will be open for trading, the holiday does have slightly different hours and may have lower volumes. Please visit CME Globex Presidents Day Holiday Schedule to view the adjusted hours for each asset class.
February 11, 2014 – This morning, Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen made comments about the state of the economy and plans to scale back stimulus in “measured steps.” Statements from the central bank can affect all Trading Challenge products, but are most likely to influence Equity Index and Interest Rate products. February 6, 2014 – Next Monday, February 10 at 12:00pm ET, the USDA will report on Crop Production for U.S. The report contains data on acreage, area harvested, yield, etc. and may have a large influence on corn and soybean prices.
February 4, 2014 – This Friday, February 7 at 8:30am ET, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics will release the January Employment report which includes unemployment and nonfarm payroll numbers.
Day of Market EducationCME Group's Day of Market Education is a one-day conference that provides students with an exclusive look into CME Group and the financial industry. During the conference, business experts will deliver presentations relevant to the global marketplace, and attendees will have the opportunity to view live open outcry trading and learn about CME Group's electronic trading platform, CME Globex. After the days' educational offerings, students will be joined by the industry's top firms for a networking reception and dinner.
This complimentary conference is by invitation-only for the top ranking student teams participating in CME Group's Trading Challenge.
