US equity markets took on a higher track during the early morning hours, with the March S&P 500 challenging this weeks new contract high. Equities slipped from their best level of the morning following US jobless claims data that came in a shy of expectations. Some traders also pointed to somewhat disappointing comments from the European Central Bank this morning, which took on a more cautious outlook. That shift in tone sparked a sharp rally in the US dollar and cut into risk-taking sentiment. The March S&P 500 showed a negative outside day reversal into the mid session, as did the March E-mini Dow.
