Recap Hog Market Report

April hogs closed 82 points lower on the session today but managed to closed up 155 points for the week. The market traded higher early in the session but drifted back down to slightly lower on the day into the mid-session. A sharp break in cattle late in the day helped pull hogs sharply lower into the close. The market saw strong gains for the week so far on a more stable pork product trade and some talk that snow in Iowa might disrupt marketings this weekend. Talk that the Saturday kill will be higher this week has helped to improve demand for live inventory and kept the cash market steady today. Selling has also occurred following the hook reversal on the charts yesterday which might have attracted some technical selling.
