Leo Melamed Prize for Outstanding Research in Finance Awarded to University of Chicago Professor Tarek Hassan

Tarek Hassan, the University of Chicago Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics, was awarded the 2013 "Leo Melamed Prize for Outstanding Research in Finance" for his paper "Country Size, Currency Unions, and International Asset Returns." The essay shows that the differences in the size of economies explains a large fraction of the cross-sectional variation in currency returns. The "Leo Melamed Prize for Outstanding Research in Finance" is given in recognition of outstanding research in finance.
