Output continues to limp along on weak export growth. Industrial production disappointed, sinking 0.6 percent on the month. Expectations were for an increase of 0.2 percent. On the year, output crept up 0.2 percent. Among the industries that mainly contributed to the decrease were electronic parts and devices, transport equipment and information and communication electronics equipment.
According to the METI survey, output is expected to increase 2.8 percent in August with the following industries contributing to the rise -- information & communication electronics equipment, general purpose, production & business oriented machinery and transport equipment.
