The foundation of the EU Wheat futures contract is its robust delivery mechanism, which features Rouen as the reference market with delivery points across key wheat production areas. It incorporates a carry structure by allowing for wheat to be held in store, which encourages a forward price curve similar to the CBOT Chicago SRW and KC HRW Wheat futures. This allows EU Wheat futures to provide more effective tracking of the underlying wheat cash market, better convergence, and subsequently, more valuable price risk management capabilities.
