Putnam on the Workings of the FOMC and New Transparency

Chief Economist Bluford Putnam reports that on January 25th the Feds announced that they would keep interest rates low into 2014. This was accompanied by a press release by Bernanke, who explained what was going into the decision, both in terms of board votes and projections for the economy.

Putnam gives us further insight into consensus, or lack thereof, on the part of the Federal Reserve, and how new transparency policies will allow us to watch policy making unfold – and at the same time may increase volatility.
