CME Group Assistance Fund

CME Group Corporate Philanthropy

The Assistance Fund was established in 2001, following the September 11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, as a public charity designed to provide disaster relief and hardship assistance for persons affiliated with the physical commodities industry. Funds raised are used to assist current CME, CBOT, NYMEX or COMEX member, an employee of a CME, CBOT, NYMEX or COMEX member, an employee of an exchange member firm, or a CME Group employee. Additionally, funds can also be used to assist the surviving spouse and/or dependents who require disaster relief or hardship assistance as a result of the untimely death or disability of one of the aforementioned members of the exchange community.

  • Recent proof of financial need must accompany the application.
  • Funds are raised on an as-needed basis and through solicitation.
  • This tax-exempt vehicle enables both the person in need and the generous donors to utilize the tax advantages of a public charity.
