Tell me about your role here.
For each order that is sent from any external source, CME Group sends back electronic confirmation messages acknowledging if a trade was made and processed. My role in QA automation is to develop an enhanced message validation process. Automating regression test scripts allows for QA manual testers to focus on testing the new functionality while the automated scripts ensure that no bugs have been introduced to existing functionality.
Tell me about a typical day for you.
Because I’m still in school, I am in the office three days a week. The first thing I do when I come in is check my e-mail and read the news. Besides reading the Daily Clips, I look for other news about CME Group in the world. I check in with my team and managers to see if there’s anything I need to know. Then it’s time to program scripts.
How does your job improve financial markets?
By ensuring that our trade confirmation system is robust, I make sure our customers have the best service possible. That means customers can concentrate on trading rather than system issues.
