If you had to explain your job in just a few words, what would you say?
It’s truly a jack of all trades.

Tell me about your role here.
I would define my role as two parts relationship management, two parts project management and one part “keep them up and running.”  There is also a technology focus; from an electronic trading perspective, I’m both serving trading firms as well as soliciting their feedback.  That input helps CME Group to have better product offerings.  As a relationship manager, I’m working with all types of customers to find out what best suits their needs.

Tell me about a typical day for you.
First I’ll check my e-mail and voice mails. Then it’s usually a day of meetings and liaising with customers. In between meetings is when I get things done. A typical day involves a mix of working on resolving issues for customers and working on projects.   My work often crosses divisions.  For example, currently I’m working on a project for centralized credit controls on CME Globex, which is exciting since I’m able to utilize my knowledge from several years in the risk management division of CME Group and leverage it in a new division.  I’m at the office until my work is done, however many hours that takes. But I’m also very mobile. I’m connected 24/7 with my blackberry and laptop, so I can work from home if necessary.

How does your job make an impact on financial markets?
My job is essentially to get firms up and running on CME Globex, our electronic trading platform. We try to make the process of getting on to CME Globex as efficient as possible,  while at the same time ensure the credit and risk management controls are in place – this helps customers do business faster. As we make it easier from customers to trade electronically, we create a more efficient marketplace.
