Tell us about your role here.
I’m an Internet solutions manager.  We are responsible for the development and technical maintenance of our internal and external Web sites.

Tell me about a typical day for you.
My day starts early.  I’m here at 5:45 a.m.
On most days I catch up on e-mail for the first hour, review priorities for the current day and look a few days out to see what’s coming up.  I also review all of our production systems to verify everything is running correctly and, if issues are found, attempt to resolve any issues before people get into the office.  Meetings and planning sessions usually start around 8:30 and continue throughout the day.  Because of my early start time, I try to leave the office around 3:30 so I can be home in time to have dinner with my family.

In a typical day, how much time is spent working with other teams?
One of the things I enjoy most about my job is the contact I have with many of the different departments we have here.  On any given day, I interact with Membership, Legal, IT, Accounting, Organizational Development, Marketing, Products and Services, Building Operations, Trading Floor Operations, Communications and many others. 

How does your job improve the way financial markets work?
The applications our team creates provide market information and data which our customers access to trade at CME Group, either electronically or on our trading floor.  Traders use the information on our site to make trading decisions: how to trade and what products to trade so they can run their business better. For internal employees, the resources we provide allows us to better interact with internal and external customers.
