This is a generalist position. The successful candidate will be exposed to both income and non-income taxes across disciplines of research and planning, compliance and audit defense. Specific responsibilities include:
Compliance. Work with the Manager and Director, Tax on federal and state income tax filings for CME Group. Assume primary responsibility for timely preparation of non-income tax returns for the CME Group including Illinois sales & use tax, Chicago lease tax, Chicago use tax, and Illinois unclaimed property. Research issues related to the preparation of non-income and income tax returns.
Income tax accounting (financial reporting). Work with Manager, Tax on quarterly and yearend tax provisions for CME Group.
Tax research. Research a variety of issues across a broad range of taxes. Communicate findings in written and verbal form to internal and external customers.
Audit defense. Work with Manager and Director, Tax on research of audit issues and response to auditor questions.
Requirements
Experience: 1-2 years of generalist tax experience is required
Education: A bachelor’s degree in accounting with progress towards an advanced (Master’s) degree in tax is required
Certifications: A CPA certification is desired
Software: Experience with the Microsoft office product suite is required. PeopleSoft experience is a plus
Experience with the CorpTax provision package is a plus
