Description

   The Managing Director, EMEA will be a key member of the senior leadership within CME Group’s Products & Services Division and will represent CME Group as the most senior Exchange executive resident in the region.  The Managing Director, EMEA is responsible for all facets of the creation, execution and management of the business strategy and overall business growth within Europe, Middle East and Africa.  He/She must create a long-term vision for regional growth and promote CME Group’s interests, brand and products in the region. He/She is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all CME Group activities in EMEA, including the activities of other CME Group business functions represented in the region (e.g., sales, marketing, communications, product research, HR, and business development). Extensive leadership and collaboration are required with senior level management across all CME Group divisions, including Technology, Marketing, Clearing, and Business Development, in order to ensure effective support for the global corporate strategy. The Managing Director, EMEA will possess a firm grasp on the regulatory and competitive landscape in order to lead CME Group’s expanding presence in the region. He/She will also possess well-developed contacts among derivatives industry participants, regulators and other exchanges that will enable CME Group to support its plans for fast-paced global growth.

 

  • Define and execute long-term growth strategy for the region.
  • Determine overall regional sales goals and performance metrics, in collaboration with the Product Group Heads.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coordination, and administrative management to regional head of Strategic Sales and administrative staff. The Strategic Sales group is responsible for organic business growth across all product group and customer segments in the region.
  • Increase awareness of CME Group brand and products in the region.
  • Advise the executive leadership on challenges and opportunities associated with CME Group’s EMEA business strategy.
  • Leverage customer and professional relationships to identify and develop key strategic initiatives and alliances for CME Group. 
  • Coordinate activities of regional resources within Business Development, Research & Product Development, HR, and Marketing to maximize CME Group’s presence and impact in the region.
  • Create/manage strategic relationships (e.g., central banks, regulators, key clients, etc.) and partnerships (JVs, strategic investments, etc.).
  • Represent CME Group to the regional media and industry participants, at conferences, trade shows, and trade associations.

 

 

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in business or related area. An MBA is not required, but is strongly advised.
  • Minimum of 15 years work experience, including significant experience managing staff.
  • Extensive track record in the derivatives space with exposure to listed derivatives, OTC derivatives, and/or cash markets.
  • Strong leadership and resource management skills with proven experience managing in a matrix environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written,and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively across all levels of an organization including senior level management.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Travel required, minimum of 30%.
  • Must have strong understanding of the EMEA regulatory, political and competitive landscape.
  • Foreign language is a plus.
