Description

Position Purpose:

A Director within the Research & Product Development (R&PD) Department works per the direction of the Director, Commodity Research & Product Development, or the Managing Director, R&PD. The primary role is to identify and develop new product and services opportunities related to the over-the-counter (OTC) market, maintain viability of current product offerings, and contribute insight into market and business development in a product area or region.   

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Research and identify new revenue opportunities with regards to product offering or clearing services in the OTC market. Focus will be on agricultural commodity markets, including grains, livestock and dairy but may also include other asset classes.
  2. Develop those products into viable, working markets by actively engaging externally with market participants; government regulatory agencies, i.e. CFTC and SEC; cash and OTC market participants; and technology and other service providers as well as information licensors; and coordinating internally with Products & Services, product marketing, regulatory, operational staff, and Corporate Communications.
  3. Maintain viability of existing products by monitoring market trends, identifying areas to improve or expand the company’s OTC product line, and pursuing necessary product and rule modifications where required.
  4. Provide marketing support by supplying data, writing product related materials as well as articles for publication and preparing and delivering presentations.
  5. Actively solicit feedback from industry participants through various means including trade calls, surveys, industry events, trade shows and conferences to stay abreast of changing demands and market needs and report back intelligence gathered to all stakeholders in a systematic fashion.

Requirements

Experience:
  • 8 to 10 years experience in commodity OTC markets. 
  • Knowledge of agricultural regulatory structure will benefit candidate.
  • Candidate will be familiar with current trends, trading protocols, and clearing services in the OTC market. 
  • Must have both excellent written and verbal communications kills. 
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Masters and/or Doctorate degree preferred.
