Position Description: (day-to-day responsibilities and deliverables)
 
The Director, Corporate Finance – International will lead CME Group’s International M&A process from scope/prioritization to execution. As well, this role will lead all financial support for CME Group’s international investments (minority investments, joint ventures, partnerships or commercial agreements).
This role will focus on key responsibilities which would include responsibility for:
  • Prioritization of international M&A
  • Company-wide coordination of international M&A
  • Valuation and financial analysis
  • Coordination of all Accounting, Tax, Forecasting and Treasury aspects
  • Continual review of financial performance vs. expectations
 
Functions:
 
  • Lead Company-wide international M&A prioritization and execution.
  • Provide detailed analysis of all international investments/partnerships ensuring an appropriate risk adjusted return for CME.     Interface with investment bankers, outside counsel, accounting, tax, treasury, and target’s top management. Manage all areas of initial valve-focused financial analysis, from scoping of targets, to negotiations through close, initial and on-going forecasting and post-investment review. Work with target’s management to develop value creation opportunities. Present findings to top management and board.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis of partnering opportunities. Interface with all areas of the exchange as well as outside advisors. Work with partner to develop appropriate structure and financial models to ensure appropriate risk adjusted return for CME. Present findings to top management and board.
  • Maintain constant analysis of potential CME international competitors and M&A targets.
  • Develop, implement and manage CME’s international investment framework for financial analysis.
  • Setting goals and objectives for Corporate Finance-International.
  • Developing the Corporate Finance Staff.
  • Provide ad hoc analysis and research as needed.

Requirements

Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting required.
  • Masters in Business Administration expected.
  • Experience in international finance, investment banking or corporate mergers and acquisitions department required. 
  • At least 10 years experience in Accounting, Tax, Finance and/or Treasury with extensive valuation and structuring expertise and at least 3-5 years of international experience.
  • CPA or CFA preferred.
